The History Behind It All.
Parks' Tavern -and- Dick & Fran's
As one of the last original beer drinking - or, "minor bars", they were part of a 30-year chapter in Wisconsin life that often brings a chuckle from those who lived through that memorable era, these businesses are historic, and were rousing watering holes and dance halls!
The legal drinking age in the Badger State jumped from 19 to 21 on Sept. 1, 1986.
Sportsman's Supper Club
Owned by Darrel "Bud" and Marlys Robinson, Sportsman's Supper Club has been a part of every local's lifetime. Whether a school reunion, wedding dinner, Christmas Party or a Friday Night, if you're from around these parts, you have a story within these walls. Today, you can find The Robinsons just down the road cooking up abbd selling their amazing baked goods and homemade eats at Lefse Lane (715-859-6730).
R Bar (Red Pines Campground)
For just under a decade, Cody & Charlene Bronstad and Steve & Beth Bossany have served up hospitality, great food and cold drinks! From events to evenings out, R Bar (Red Pines Campground) has provided our community with the foundation and outlet you'll see alive and well today. Best wishes to them in their retirement!
Fire Away Roadhouse & Rest Camp
The atmosphere that we create and the service we provide are the results of our passion and commitment to hard work, hospitality and each other. Fire Away's name is a salute to Randy’s military service as a Machine Gunner in the United States Marine Corps, and a motto The Frasers' use as a reminder to keep continuing on in life. Through their years of volunteerism and working with veteran service organizations, they've learned, and share the importance of reconnecting around a fire to: escape the day, get back to nature, and one another.
Fire. The flaming source that cooks our food, can create and destroy, provides warmth and light, and is the truest form of communication dating back to our ancestors' largest discoveries and innovations. We're fueled by the preservation and stories of the past, and also the growth and future of our story, our community and this historical gathering space.
